Growing up in the lakes area of northern Minnesota, Colin developed a connection with the natural world at a young age. Upon moving to Alaska in 1996 to pursue what would be a short-lived career in human services, he soon discovered the art of photography after receiving a camera for Christmas. Since that time, Colin has continuously pursued photography as both an art and a business. His desire for travel and exploration led to the creation of a photo tour business, Nat Expo Tours (www.natexpotours.com), with an acquaintance and fellow photographer he met while photographing brown bears in Katmai National Park. They lead tours in Iceland, Cuba, Namibia, and Norway, and continue to add new destinations every year. Colin is a member of the Alaska Society of Outdoor and Nature Photographers, American Society of Media Photographers, North American Nature Photography Association, and Nikon Professional Services. He served as a resident staff member of the Eagle River Nature Center for more than eight years and produced a book titled “Seasons of the Nature Center.” You can view more of his work at www.colintyler.com.
