Cathy Hart

Whether it is a Borneo Orangutan or a Denali wolf her images capture the life of the moment. Cathy leads photography trips in Alaska with Great Alaska Safaris – Greatalaska.com, and Brazil. Her favorite subject is bears.
Cathy has been living in Alaska since 1966. Her passion for photography started when she received her first camera for high school graduation from her dad. Her main passion is wildlife photography and nature but she loves to shoot anything that moves. She loves shooting from her sea kayak and white water raft.
Cathy has been published in many publications and is a photographer with Design Pics and AlaskaStock. She serves on the board of Directors with Alaska Society of Outdoor and Nature Photographers and she lives in Anchorage with her husband Eric and her dog Nikki.

Gayle Neufeld
907.888.3122A love of photography runs in Gayle’s family, where it has been shared and enjoyed together through four generations. She got her first point and shoot camera while in grammar school, and she purchased her first SLR camera in high school, making the switch to digital in 2008. Gayle considers herself very fortunate that her career as a biologist in Alaska has given her the opportunity to view nature at its very best. She is always amazed at our natural world and enjoys documenting her experiences through photography.

Amber Johnson
907.244.2688Amber is a professional commercial photographer, born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. She started taking pictures as a child, using one of her dad’s multiple point and shoots, which developed into a passion by high school when she started taking photography classes. She received her BFA from University of New Mexico with emphasis in fine art photography. She works with numerous local and national clients, and sells stock images through Alaska Stock. Her passion is outdoor and nature photography.
Amber currently serves on the Alaska Society of Outdoor Nature Photographers‘ Board of Directors and as the organization’s secretary.
When she’s not working, she’s usually busy documenting her wilderness adventures backcountry skiing, packrafting, and mountain biking.

Glenn Aronwits
907.230.6788At the age of nine Glenn’s interest for photography began when he purchased a Polaroid 110A Land Camera at a garage sale with earnings from a paper route. He shot countless rolls film until 2000, when he bought his first digital point-and-shoot camera. The digital age rekindled Glenn’s passion for photography since images can be viewed instantly and adjustments can be made during image capture. His passion for photography grew stronger than ever with the ability to have a virtual darkroom in his home by utilizing computers and printers. What started out as a lifelong hobby developed into a photography business in 2005, and is currently Glenn’s full-time occupation. Glenn has been ASONP’s treasurer since 2010.

Born and raised in Oregon, Cory grew up hiking, kayaking and skiing, among other great activities in the Pacific Northwest. A marine biologist by trade, Cory is also an aspiring outdoor landscape and wildlife photographer. It wasn’t until after moving to Alaska in 2017 when his love for photography really took off. He enjoys the challenge and excitement of tracking and photographing wildlife, capturing breathtaking scenes and compositions of Alaska’s mountains and landscapes, and especially chasing the auroras through the winter nights. Exploring Alaska’s wild places by every means possible, Cory takes his camera – and his dog, Stew – with him on every new adventure he takes, and Alaska is full of adventures for an outdoors enthusiast and man’s best friend.

Carl Johnson
907.748.7040Carl moved to Alaska in 1999, and has been an ASONP member since 2001. Carl’s first work as a photographer came in 1988 as ship’s photographer for the U.S.S. Haleakala (AE-25). Today, he is the owner of Alaska Photo Treks and the Arctic Light Gallery. He has served as an artist-in-residence for three national parks (Gates of the Arctic, Badlands, and Rocky Mountain). He was the winner of the “Environmental Issues” category for the 2010 Windland Smith Rice International Awards. He is also a member of Nikon Pro Services, Professional Photographers of America, and the North American Nature Photography Association. He is an Associate Fellow with the International League of Conservation Photographers.

Alan Musy
907.244.4079Alan became interested in photography at an early age, first taking photographs with his Mother’s Brownie box camera, and later, with his Father’s Argus 35mm camera. For years, Alan photographed primarily in the Midwestern United States. Upon graduation from high school, he purchased his first camera he could call his own, a Pentax KX 35mm SLR.
Alan moved to Alaska in 1991, where he has lived ever since. Alan states “Alaska is a photographer’s paradise; there is always something beautiful to photograph in this great state”.
Alan is one of the longest serving ASONP board members, serving for over 26 years. Alan was newsletter editor for nearly six years, and has served as the organization’s webmaster since 2003.

Jen Corbell
832.732.4326Jen moved to Alaska in 2018 after living on a sailboat for many years in the PNW, and also lived/travelled in various countries abroad. She brings museum exhibition & archives experience to alaskaWILD from Australia. Jen loves macro, abstract & nature photography, and has been taking photos for as long as she can remember. Her family tree has a branch of photographers, including a man named Vincent J. Dunker (Ve-Ja-De Products Co), who invented and built special cameras for school pictures beginning in 1924. Later, he even built photo booths!

Doug Hupp
907-230-9891Doug Hupp is an amateur photographer who acquired his first “real” camera around 1979 (Pentax K2). Doug loves nature photography (who wouldn’t, living in Alaska). There are so many subjects. Doug also has a couple of side photography projects including archiving and figuring how to share his family photographs and slides. ASONP has helped open his mind to new ideas and realms in photography and Doug wants to support these efforts.

Margaret Gaines
907.310.8321Photography poked its head into Margaret’s childhood on random occasions when her father would bring his camera along on nature walks and she got to use it to make images too. The photography bug didn’t rear it’s head until 1997 when she purchased her first SLR camera and started taking it to explore back roads in Oregon. She moved to Alaska in 2001 to be someplace iconic where she could learn to be a better photographer. Photography took over her world in 2006 when she got a DSLR for Christmas and started learning what each button did, one at a time. Since then, photographing the natural world has been her passion. Margaret served as president of ASONP 2018-2022.

Colin Tyler
612.616.6206Growing up in the lakes area of northern Minnesota, Colin developed a connection with the natural world at a young age. Upon moving to Alaska in 1996 to pursue what would be a short-lived career in human services, he soon discovered the art of photography after receiving a camera for Christmas. Since that time, Colin has continuously pursued photography as both an art and a business. His desire for travel and exploration led to the creation of a photo tour business, Nat Expo Tours (www.natexpotours.com), with an acquaintance and fellow photographer he met while photographing brown bears in Katmai National Park. They lead tours in Iceland, Cuba, Namibia, and Norway, and continue to add new destinations every year. Colin is a member of the Alaska Society of Outdoor and Nature Photographers, American Society of Media Photographers, North American Nature Photography Association, and Nikon Professional Services. He served as a resident staff member of the Eagle River Nature Center for more than eight years and produced a book titled “Seasons of the Nature Center.” You can view more of his work at www.colintyler.com.
